Julia Georgesen, DVM

Dr. Julia Georgesen received both her undergraduate degree and doctorate in veterinary medicine at Purdue University, graduating in 2000. Dr. Julia Georgesen has been a veterinarian at Blum Animal Hospital since 2002 and a co-owner since 2007. Blum Animal Hospital is the largest general practice hospital in Chicago, employing 50+ employees and 8 full-time veterinarians, and has been in existence since 1952. Blum Animal Hospital is AAHA accredited and has been voted Chicago Favorite Pet Hospital by multiple sources.
Dr. Georgesen has a wide range of experience within media- contributing to radio, print and television. She has had a weekly segment on WBBM Newsradio, Eye on Pets, since 2012, advocating pet health and responsible pet ownership. She has also been published in the Chicago Tribune and has appeared on WGN TV, FOX News, and ABC 7 News.
Dr. Georgesen is also an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, the Illinois State Veterinary Medial Foundation and the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Georgesen has been a huge proponent of Trupanion Insurance in her clinic, seeing first-hand the positive experiences her clients have had with the company. She became involved with the company, as part of the Trupanion Veterinary Advisory Board, from 2008-2012 and is proud to be currently serving as the North Central Veterinary Advisory Board Director.
Dr. Georgesen lives in downtown Chicago with her husband Matt, her stepchildren Emily and Henry, and their 3 mischievous dogs-Bob (French bulldog), Walter, and Kevin (both dachshunds).
