From Pet Doctors of America, Derek moved in to a national sales position for Sneakers Software, the producers of DVMax practice management software for veterinarian practices.
Prior to starting with Trupanion, Derek decided to pursue a dream of his to become a sports reporter which he accomplished by working for two different companies including ESPN from 2011 through November of 2017 as a college football writer. Derek obtained his Business Management degree from Northwood University in Midland, Michigan. In his spare time, Derek enjoys traveling, playing golf, and spending time with his wife Amanda and their son.
“My passion for animals and to work in the animal health field has always remained, even during my time as a sports writer and especially after. As a former clinic manager, I witnessed first-hand the flaws associated with insurance for pets and the opportunity to work for a company like Trupanion -- who seemed to have solved many of the current issues related to pet insurance -- was too good to pass up. From the first time I entered the Trupanion building on my interview, I realized something about this company was special. The vision, the leadership, and the drive to make a difference in the lives of pet owners and veterinarians was overwhelmingly obvious. I am excited and proud to be a part of the Trupanion team.”
