Briana Butcher

Claims Specialist

A native to Seattle, Briana relocated to Denver, Colorado in 2003 to pursue a degree at the Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology after starting her veterinary career as a receptionist in an animal hospital in 2001. Graduating with an Associate's Degree in Applied Science in Veterinary Medicine in June 2005, Briana passed the boards becoming a Certified Veterinary Technician and began working in various practices along the front range of Denver.

Her experience ranges from general practice, emergency, critical care and taking a special interest in veterinary dentistry. Before moving back to Seattle in April 2013 and joining the Trupanion team, Briana worked at a very large, high volume and well-known animal shelter in Denver for 3 years, helping underprivileged pets with their medical needs until they found permanent homes. Being an advocate of adopting shelter pets, this was a great opportunity Briana never thought she'd experience. Now she is able to continue to help pets and the families that love them through Trupanion.

In her spare time, Briana loves spending time with her family, especially her son, Colton James (they call him CJ for short), horseback riding, drawing, painting, sculpting and scrapbooking. Briana's most nerdiest hobby is playing World of Warcraft. Briana has a Chihuahua mix named Daphne Ducks and two cats, a Maine Coon mix named Smokie Pooh Bear and Siamese mix named Lillie Beans. All three critters where adopted from an animal shelter.

Briana's favorite coffee at Starbucks is a white mocha, iced or hot depending on her mood and sometimes adding an extra flavor like raspberry or hazelnut. One of her favorite quotes is from the Ghostbusters movie: "Symmetrical book stacking, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!". Another one is her favorite comedian Dane Cook referencing the Kool-Aid pitcher: "I don't like it when my juice wears tights." And the most important advice that Briana can give is "Spay and neuter your pets! It saves lives!"
