How long have you worked at Trupanion?

I started working at Trupanion in June of 2012 after 13+ years working as a veterinary technician.

What’s your role at the company?

Senior Claims Specialist

Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what are their names?

I have two dogs. Violet, the Chorkie & Walter, the merle Chihuahua mix. Violet was a rescue dog who lived with 5 families in her short 2 years before we adopted her. Walter was rescued from a terrible environment where he was underfed (weighing just 2 pounds), had acquired several parasites and tracheobronchitis which progressed to pneumonia. Luckily, Walter and Violet are both very healthy pups now. They make us laugh daily with their antics and big personalities.

Do you bring your pets to work?

I am lucky enough to have Violet & Walter right by my side while I work. They cuddle with each other on their own chair next to mine.

Do you have a favorite story you want to share about your pet(s)?

My passion for all animals began at a very young age. When I was 4 years old, I started making houses in my room for the “Roly Poly” bugs I found outside. This did not bode well with my mom. She finally agreed to adopting a “pet” when she found a nice collection of insects in my pockets.  Charlie, a male white furry mutt joined our family & was great at keeping me company. At 5 years old, I felt Charlie was the perfect bride because of his beautiful white fur. I would take an arm chair cover and place it on his head to make a the perfect veil for his “wedding”. Charlie’s paw would take my hand and he walked proudly on his hind legs down the “aisle” while we played wedding together, repeatedly. Charlie didn’t care about this ridiculous sort of play or that I was pretending he was a girl, he just loved to make me happy! Such tolerance! I will forever remember Charlie for his wonderful companionship and boundless love!

My favorite thing to do is:

I love to hike, swim, walk the greenbelt with my fur-babies. I also love to travel both locally and abroad.

If I could go anywhere in the world it would be:

I would love to visit the Galápagos Islands. While obtaining my biology degree, I took a class studying Darwin’s writings at Seattle University. Darwin’s fantastic detailed documentation of the Galápagos Islands fueled my desire to see the islands first hand!

What I like about working at Trupanion:

Trupanion is a very unique environment. Our employees come from many different walks of life and yet my we all share a common desire; to help pet’s receive the best care possible.  We have dedicated our life’s to animals and know first-hand that pets are part of the family. We also have fantastic pet loving clientele! It’s the perfect combination for me!
